5 Ranger Caught up in Goat Controversy

A farmer from North Abramia has accused members of the 5th Ranger Regiment tasked with protecting his livelihood from rebels of running over one of his prized goats.

On the 12th of April, 5 Ranger led a successful assault to reclaim the main island of Abramia archipelago. With rebels taking control of civilian infrastructure, it was a given that civilian property would be destroyed. 5 Ranger claims that civilian casulties were low and mostly a result of indiscriminate artillery fire on the part of the Rebel Abramia Defence Force, a conclusion that UN investigators agree with. Yet, 5 Ranger has been caught up in a controversy online over what happened on their way into the capital citiy.

Farmer Islo Hamita (58) made a post on X (formerly Twitter) showing the dead goat captioned with:

These British soldiers, that are supposed to be protecting us, indiscriminately ran over my prized goat Bertha!

The Prized Goat

Many of the farming communities in Northern Abramia that have been left unscathed from the months long conflict were up in arms online, and are planning a protest at 5 Rangers headquarters. Further adding to the controversy, Hamita’s description of the vehicle that ran the goat over indicates that it was a Ridgback PPV, a command vehicle used by 5 Ranger leadership.

Hamita said to AAN that

I understand that 5 Ranger has protected Abramia and respect the work they did retaking our capital, but that doesn’t give them the right to run amuck on our roads, [explicative] our women, and kill our goats! I demand to be recuperated for my loss.

AAN is unaware of any reports that 5 Ranger soldiers have been caught “liaising” with Abramia citizens, but it is a common occurrence whenever a unit is deployed far from home…

5 Ranger refused to comment on the matter.
